The results of the work conducted by CIDETEC, the KaRMA2020 coordinator, have been recently published in the article “Fully Biodegradable Biocomposites with High Chicken Feather Content” in the journal Polymers.
The article describes the development of new biodegradable polymeric materials with high concentration of chicken feather (CF). By the analysis different properties, CIDETEC demonstrated that these 100% fully biodegradable biocomposites resulted potentially adequate for panel components, flooring or building materials as an alternative to wood–plastic composites. In line with the KaRMA2020 project objective, this will contribute to the valorisation of chicken feather waste as a renewable material.
